Countries around the world are expressing outrage over the brutal treatment of a pregnant woman by Chinese authorities who were trying to force her to have an abortion. At the same time, President-elect Barack Obama is considering the reversal of an Executive Order that will allow money to once again flow to organizations that support these and other draconian “family planning” programs.

Pro-Choice Catholic Leaders Protest Bishops’ Abortion Stance

While U.S. Bishops meeting in Baltimore were concentrating their efforts on how to oppose the anticipated pro-abortion policies of an Obama administration, two Catholic Democrats published an editorial in a Baltimore paper calling on the bishops to focus on issues other than abortion.

Californians Want Leaders to Address Gay Violence

Italian Nuns Refuse to Carry Out Court-Ordered Killing

Last week the highest court of appeals in Italy ruled that the father of a woman who was left in a diminished state of consciousness after a car accident in 1992 can end her life by removing her food and hydration tube.  However, the nuns who run the hospice where the woman lives are refusing to carry out the order.

Catholics Voters Getting Mixed Messages About Obama

Just days after a South Carolina priest instructed parishioners who voted for Obama to go to confession before receiving Communion, his diocese issued a letter repudiating the order. At the same time, a Vatican official, speaking at Catholic University, equated America’s future under an Obama presidency with Christ’s agony in the garden.
