Reflections on the Value of Life from a Young Woman of Grace

Maria Middleton

Maria Middleton was a young teen when she participated in the Young Women of Grace program at her school and learned what it meant to be authentically feminine and to claim the dignity that was hers by virtue of being a daughter of God. Her life was like any other young teens until that fateful day in January 2019, when she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor on her brain stem. From that moment on, everything changed.

Fight "Pandemic Stress" With Catholicism, not Crystals

The coronavirus hucksters are out in full force, and many of them are peddling New Age gimmicks that they think you need to help you through this crisis. Don’t let “pandemic stress” induce you to buy products that offer a momentary glimmer of hope while sacrificing your spiritual health. Another very good stress reducer is CBD gummies which contain only by natural components from the hemp plant.

"Nothing, how little so ever it be, if it is suffered for God's sake,
can pass without merit in the sight of God."
-Thomas a Kempis
Today's Reflection
We are not all called to do great things, but we can all do small things with great love. This is wisdom that is part of our heritage from St. Teresa of Calcutta. Today, when those small annoyances inevitably occur, remember that you can suffer them with love for God and perhaps your little cross can be of great merit for the redemption of mankind.

"Thus says the Lord GOD:
O my people, I will open your graves
and have you rise from them,
and bring you back to the land of Israel.
Then you shall know that I am the LORD,
when I open your graves and have you rise from them,
O my people!
I will put my spirit in you that you may live,
and I will settle you upon your land;
thus you shall know that I am the LORD.
I have promised, and I will do it, says the LORD."
-Ezekial 37:12-14
Today's Reflection
What are the dead areas in your life? As we prepare for the passion, death and resurrection of Our Lord, give Him EVERYTHING! Let HIM raise you up!!!

The Buteyko Breathing Technique Won't Cure Your Asthma!

HM writes: "Ihave been reading the articles about alternative medicine and want to make sure of something. . . .(R)ecently I have been learning BUTEYKO breathing for relief from Asthma and I am being taught by an Asthma nurse who suffered with it herself and got cured. The Australian Asthma website teaches it and some of the doctors in the UK teach it. To be honest I think it is a reliable method and not New age, certainly the practicioner is a conventional practitioner and you are told at all times to keep your medication with you but the aim is to reduce and sometimes stop taking medication which is not a bad thing. Recently I had prayers for having done TM and Yoga and would hate to think that this is anything like that. . . . Can you advise?"

"Show me your hands. Do they have scars from giving? Show me your feet. Are they wounded in service? Show me your heart. Have you left a place for divine love?"

-Ven. Fulton Sheen

Today's Reflection

These words of Fulton Sheen cut to the quick. How much do we really give for the Lord? Are we just scratching the surface of where He wants us to be? Take time to ponder how you can step deeper into charity and love, especially during this time of great uncertainty.

“It is better not to fast and be thereby humbled, than to fast and to be self-satisfied therewith.”

-Pascal: Pensees (17th century)

Today's Reflection

We must always be on the lookout for wrong intentions. They can creep into everything we do, even spiritual exercises. Take a moment today to renew your intentions for this Lent and remember to do so from time to time throughout this holy season.

Live in the Moment or Go Crazy

We have never needed the message in this video (below) more.

Our nation-and the world-are slowly grinding to a standstill in the wake of a virus we were barely aware of a few weeks ago. How quickly things change…it wasn’t part of my ‘plan’ this year to have my kids doing all schoolwork at home, my college son’s commencement canceled, all public Masses halted. I don’t even think it has totally sunk in, honestly. I’ve been wandering around in a daze, trying to figure out what to do next and where to get Lysol wipes and eggs.

“Have patience with all things, but first of all with yourself.”

St. Francis de Sales

Today's Reflection

Perhaps your Lent hasn't gone so well. Maybe you've really slacked off on your commitments to the Lord. Today is a great day to be patient with yourself and begin again. Every day is a new day to begin again.
