Daleiden Posts Bail in Houston

david daleidenThe investigative journalist who exposed the alleged illegal selling of fetal tissue by the abortion industry has posted bail after being indicted by a Texas grand jury for using a fake driver’s license during his investigations.

FoxNews.com is reporting on the appearance of David Daleiden of The Center for Medical Progress in a Houston courtroom hours ago where he posted bail of $3,000.

Daleiden and another activist, Sandra Merritt, were charged with tampering with a government record – in this case a driver’s license – which are felony offenses punishable by up to 20 years in prison.

Merritt’s $10,000 bail was reduced to $2,000 yesterday, which she posted and was released.

Defense attorneys say their clients will plead not guilty to the charges.

“The activists' attorneys have acknowledged the two used fake driver's licenses but that their actions weren't meant to defraud or harm the abortion provider, and that they never intended to buy human organs,” Fox reports. “Defense attorneys also said the charges won't stand up in court and have asked Anderson to drop the case and resubmit the evidence to another grand jury on possible charges against Planned Parenthood.”

The former grand jury admitted that they never took a vote on the charges against the abortion giant, nor did anyone from the organization testify during their proceedings.

Thus far, Anderson is refusing to resubmit the case out of respect for the grand jury’s decision “even if it conflicts with my personal beliefs” which she insists are “pro-life”.

More than 100,000 people have signed a petition demanding that the charges against Daleiden be dismissed. These petitions were delivered to Anderson’s office today.
