An interesting point of contrast that St. Louis makes early in his preliminary remarks is the opposition between "the world" and Mary. The world, meaning those who do not have the Holy Spirit and are opposed to God, cannot understand the beauty and mystery of Mary and her role as the Mother of God. Nor does the Lord give to those who reject Him an understanding into this mystery for "they look but do not see and hear but do not listen or understand" (Matthew 13:13).by Fr.
