Lawmakers on the Hill have scheduled an October 24 hearing in which Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius could be called upon to explain the rough rollout of Obamacare.
There appears to be a good reason why no one in the Obama administration will reveal the number of enrollees in ObamaCare during its first official week of operation - with two sources inside the Department of Health and Human Services saying it netted just 51,000 enrollees thus far.
Public outrage over ObamaCare is rising to unprecedented levels as the Administration gives Congress a reprieve and delays the employer mandate, but continues to expect individuals to pay sky-high premiums beginning in January, 2014.
The latest revelation in the ongoing implementation of ObamaCare reveals hundreds of Planned Parenthood clinics on a list of providers that must be covered by insurers, which means abortion providers will be benefiting from the new law just as pro-life groups warned.
The “Catholic vote” is never a sure thing. Politicians have learned that Catholics are not a unified voice nor a unified voting block–too bad. If we Catholics voted according to the teachings of the Church, we could bring about enormous good for our nation.
Our nation is in the midst of its own “Battle of Lepanto.” Our temporal order – the institutions and enterprises of man, his culture and his society – has been infiltrated by an anti-life, anti-Gospel, anti-Church agenda. The “final confrontation” intimated by Karol Cardinal Wojtyla when he addressed the United States Bishops in 1976 seems to have arrived. From Cairo and the Middle East, to Congress and the Senate, to the attack against the union of one man and one woman in marriage, to the proliferation of the morally reprehensible, to the efforts of Planned Parenthood and sex education in our schools, we see the frontal attack of the “Agenda of the Anti-.“ As Women of Grace® “impregnated with the spirit of the gospel” we must respond.
The fight over President Obama's health care law may be coming back to the Supreme Court as the Justices suggest they may be interested in revisiting a case that will raise many of the same challenges that came before the Court this past spring.
In its strongest statement to date, Vatican Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone issued a warning to U.S. Catholics that seems to target the Obama Administration for its denial of the right to conscientious objection.
Depending on how the Supreme Court rules later this week on the constitutionality of the individual mandate, nearly a million jobs at the nation's Catholic hospitals could be affected.
Should the president's ill-fated health care reform survive scrutiny at the U.S. Supreme Court, acupuncturists and practitioners of "oriental medicine" are attempting to convince the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) to classify acupuncture as an "essential health benefit" (EHB) under ObamaCare.
