A devoted reader passed along a video of celebrity psychic Thomas John who challenges the Church’s prohibition of his trade by insisting that the Bible was written by psychics and is full of "mediumistic" experiences.
AH asks: “I have a question that keeps coming up in conversations with my friends and I would like to answer them correctly. What is the Authoritative Catholic explanation of what the Magi used when reading the stars? Was it astrology or astronomy? How do we as Catholics defend the teaching of Christ on not to use Astrology if the magi did.”
Just when you thought you’ve heard it all, along comes a 30 year-old “spiritual guidance counselor” who claims to be in a serious relationship with a ghost with whom she is hoping to start a family.
BL writes: “I have been trying to stop my children from using curse words they hear at school or the playground and often say ‘Whenever a person curses, the devil draws near!’ but I really don’t know where I got this information. Is this true?”
We are often asked by people how to determine if they have been cursed or the victim of an evil spell? They might be experiencing a string of financial losses, accidents, or illnesses. Or maybe they suddenly can’t seem to focus or concentrate on their work. If someone put a spell/curse on them, how will they know and what can be done about it?
JH writes: “I cant find much on the topic but am curious if the pendulum wives tale (tie a ring on a string) to predict baby gender falls into a superstition/new age category to be avoided? I tried this recently and have found it to be very accurate on multiple occasions. If there is any validity to the results I'd like to believe there is a God given explanation that is scientifically based (even if yet discovered). . . ."
In an effort to counter what the Nicaraguan bishops are calling an “irrational and disproportionate” level of violence against Catholics in that country, they are planning to say the prayer of exorcism to St. Michael the Archangel to combat the violence which is "spiritually rooted in evil."
DN writes: “Lately my kids & I have come across white feathers in odd places that I know I’ve cleaned in my house. My mom (all Italian) says this is someone from Heaven? Is this true?”
KO writes: “My son-in-law has been playing Dungeons and Dragons with a group of friends for many years. Is this a harmless pastime? Should I be concerned?”
Wouldn’t it be nice if someone would come up with a way to help us stay energized and alert throughout the day regardless of how busy we are? It sure would, but the New Age idea of restoring “energy” isn’t the way to go.
