Egypt Cuts Off Dialogue with Vatican

Government Ruling Could Jeopardize Mission of Catholic Colleges

In a ruling that could have a major impact on colleges that want to uphold Catholic teaching, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) ruled on Tuesday that Manhattan College, which is recognized as Catholic by the Archdiocese of New York City, cannot call itself Catholic because "the purpose of the College is secular and not the ‘propagation of a religious faith’."

JP II Beatification Could Come This Year

Cardinal Pell Wins Concession from Gay Marriage Supporters

By Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Journalist The Archbishop of Sydney is willing to meet with supporters of same-sex marriage who want him to call off a Church-sponsored campaign against the unions, but on his own terms - first, they must make a public statement conceding that the Church's opposition to same-sex nuptials is not homophobic and second, they must allow a Catholic married couple to be present at the meeting.
