New Film Has Timely Message for Embattled American Catholics

For Greater Glory, a movie about the persecution of the Catholic Church in Mexico in the 1920's which debuted this weekend, prompted Los Angeles' Bishop Jose Gomez to call the film's message "timely" because it reminds embattled American Catholics that religious liberties must never be taken for granted.

Before an estimated one-million pilgrims at an open-air Mass which took place yesterday at the close of the World Meeting of Families in Milan, Italy, Pope Benedict XVI spoke out on family values, reached out to divorcees, and called the Sabbath "an oasis in which to pause . . . and celebrate the family."

Black Pastors Scoff at Notion of Same-Sex Marriage as Civil Right

Black pastors, who head up a flock that is known to be very much in support of traditional marriage, sent a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder in which they scoffed at the notion of same-sex marriage being a civil rights issue and demanded that he set up a meeting with the president to discuss his "evolution" on same-sex nuptials.
