“Trivial suffering is not trivial in its effects; it has tremendous power for good and tremendous power for evil; it can be destructive, and warp and sour our personality. It is almost always trivial suffering which, when it is not deliberately sanctified, results in the most lethal disease of the human character, self-pity.”
-Caryll Houselander
Today’s Reflection:
Small frustrations and disappointments can easily fill our thoughts and shape our attitudes if we don’t guard against them. How do you usually respond to these “trivial” sufferings? Do you grow resentful or do you offer them to God with patience and trust?
Even the smallest trials can become a source of grace when they are united to Christ. What small irritation today will you offer to Him?
