Gosnell Movie to Open October 12

A film documenting the shocking true story of the investigation and trial of Dr. Kermit Gosnell, whose seedy West Philadelphia abortion clinic was dubbed the “House of Horrors” by law enforcement, will open in theaters on October 12.

Gosnell: The Untold Story of America’s Most Prolific Serial Killer is a must-see movie for both sides of the abortion debate because of how thoroughly this true story documents the dark underbelly of the abortion industry.

Based on the bestselling book by the same title, this film describes the 30-year killing spree of Dr. Gosnell, a late-term abortionist who allegedly used scissors to snip the spines of babies born alive, displayed the tiny feet of aborted babies in specimen jars and kept infant remains ranging from 12 to 24 weeks in plastic water or juice containers as well as in cat and dog food cans.

Gosnell was eventually convicted of murdering three infants born alive after abortion, and an involuntary manslaughter charge for the death of a 41 year-old woman. He is currently serving a life sentence.

Not only was the public horrified by the case but they were also outraged that so few media outlets were willing to cover the trial. It was not until they were shamed into doing so that the mainstream media finally relented and began to report on what they previously called the “safe and legal” abortion industry.

Even The New York Times tried to evade the story by initially refusing to feature the book on its bestseller list despite the fact that the sales figures revealed that it belonged on the list. They later admitted that they adjust the list as an “editorial decision.”

The book debuted as #3 on Amazon’s Best Seller list and sold out within three days of publication.

Regardless of how hard the pro-abortion media tried to suppress it, Gosnell’s story caught fire among the general public. As a result, a crowdfunding campaign to make the story into a movie racked in over $2.3 million in just 45 days. When it ended, it was the most successful crowdfunding campaign on the Indiegogo website.

“This is your movie,” says producers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer. “We literally could not have done it without you.”

McElhinney is a New York Times best-selling author, journalist, film producer and director and one of the most successful crowdfunders in the world. She and her husband, journalist Phelim McAleer wrote the best-selling book as well as the movie.

The cast includes Dean Cain (Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) who plays Detective James “Woody” Wood. Veteran stage and screen actor Earl Billings plays Dr. Gosnell. Dominique Dion, an aspiring young actress who is making her debut in this film, plays Betty Goodwin, the frightened clinic employee who eventually helps police put Gosnell behind bars.
