The feminist challenge to hierarchical priestly authority requires a response that is insightful and creative.  The feminist challenge to the Christian faith is a real one. Feminist theology in many ways represents a rival approach to the Church's sacraments and doctrine. This challenge has placed the Catholic Church in a state of crisis on the position of women. this crisis can only be resolved through a new appreciation for the essence of authority.
