Pro-Lifers Picket ABC News

Pro-lifers fed up with the steady drumbeat of biased news reporting on the abortion issue staged a rally outside ABC News on Thursday to demand that the mainstream media stop censoring the news on a topic so important to women's health.

The Daily Caller is reporting that the rally was organized by Lila Rose, president of the youth-led pro-life group, Live Action.

“It’s time to report the truth about abortion,” Rose told the crowd. “The reality is the media has said that they are here in order to educate the public, maybe bring us to terms with our own biases, report the newsy stories of the day, but the reality is they are not doing that. And we are here today to say enough is enough and it is time to report the news, its time to stop censoring the news, it's time to tell the truth.”

Leaders from a broad spectrum of pro-life and conservative groups detailed the gross misreporting of the abortion issue that has taken place in the mainstream media in just the past few months.

“ . . . (W)hile the nation’s major news media outlets ignored the Kermit Gosnell murder trial . . . they fell over themselves to out-do each other in lavishing praise on their hero [Texas Democratic state Sen.] Wendy Davis,” said MRC political director Christian Robey said. “ABC, CBS, NBC devoted three times as much coverage to lauding Wendy Davis as to covering the atrocities of so-called Dr. Gosnell.”

The media's coverage of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure controversy over Planned Parenthood funding made front page news, but there was barely a word reported about the Medicaid fraud perpetrated by Planned Parenthood in Texas.

As Robey said, this is because the news media only covers those who threaten the abortion industry and censor any news that might shine a bad light on it.

Charmaine Yoest, president of Americans United for Life, used her brown cowboy boots to slam the media for “sexism” because of their focus on Wendy Davis’ pink sneakers rather than the compelling issue of a pro-life law that will now force abortion providers in that state to stop offering sub-standard health care to women.

“I call sexism and real bias in covering a woman’s issue by talking about Wendy Davis’ pink shoes. Really? Really, media? Is that what we have come to in this country today? That you are minimizing our concerns and minimizing women’s lives?”

Ryan Bomberger, leader of the pro-life Radiance Foundation, who is a child of rape, took the media to task for exploiting the murder of Trayvon Martin while disregarding the death of 24 year-old Tonya Reaves who was left to bleed to death after a second-term abortion in a Planned Parenthood clinic in Chicago in 2012.

“Everyone knows of the tragedy of Trayvon Martin’s death . . . . But I want to ask, how many people know the name of Tonya Reaves. I would suggest that not many people know her name,” Bomberger said. “She wasn’t wearing a hoodie but she was killed in a hood: Planned Parenthood. . . . The media’s silence about Tonya Reaves’ death only shows that violence against women is okay sometimes.”

The rally was part of a new campaign by Live Action to hold the mainstream media accountable for their blatant censoring of abortion-related news. The organization has sent letters to ABC, NBC and CBS, calling on them to "stop the abortion censorship."

To date, they have received no response from any of the networks.

However, an ABC camera was seen at the event.

Whether or not the network airs any coverage of the rally would be “another test to see if they are going to be reporting the news,” Rose said.
