Poll Finds Little Support for Abortion in Public Health Care Plan

Bishop of Fargo Outlines Four Principles of Health Care

Aquila, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Fargo, encouraged priests, deacons, religious sisters and parishioners to “become engaged in promoting genuine health care reform” and presented four principles upon which the “moral value and justice of a given plan to provide health care” should be evaluated.

Health Care Alternative Being Stalled in Committee

An alternative to the contentious health care reforms currently circulating on the Hill is being deliberately held up in Committee by House leadership. This alternative will allow individuals to choose their health insurance, provide insurance for the poor and high-risk individuals (those with pre-existing conditions), allow insurance to be sold across state lines and set limits on the kind of medical liability suits that have been driving up health care costs.

Archbishop Chaput Says No “Common Ground” in Health Care Proposals

By Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Writer Denver’s Archbishop Charles Chaput is speaking out about the government’s misuse of the Catholic concept of common ground, saying that using this label to describe any health care proposal that includes abortion “a lie.”
