Nearly Half of All Americans Think Abortions Are Too Easy To Get

By Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Journalist A new Rasmussen poll has found that nearly half (48%) of U.S. voters believe it is too easy to get an abortion in America. The latest poll found little change in voter's feelings about the accessibility of abortion in America since the pollster began tracking these opinions four years ago. However, it did find that women (53%) feel more strongly than men (42%) that abortions are too easy to get. Women also feel more strongly about the immorality of abortion with 58 percent of female voters saying abortion is wrong in most cases compared to 49 percent of men. Only 32 percent of respondents disagreed. The number of voters who described themselves as being pro-choice is 49 percent vs. 43 percent who identify as pro-life.  An overwhelming majority (91%) of pro-life voters believe abortion is morally wrong most of the time. Sixty-one percent of pro-choice voters say they disagree with that view. As for how the issue of abortion will figure in their vote this fall, 61% of respondents said abortion is at least somewhat important in terms of how they'll vote with 33% saying it was "very important" and 37% saying it was not important at all. "But in terms of overall voter interest, abortion ranks well below 10 other issues regularly tracked by Rasmussen Reports including the economy, government ethics and immigration," the pollster reports. The survey was conducted among 1,000 likely voters on August 11-12, 2010 by Rasmussen Reports. © All Rights Reserved, Living His Life Abundantly®/Women of Grace®  http://www.womenofgrace.com
