DC Citizens Vow to Fight for Right to Vote on Same-Sex Marriage

Court of Appeals decided that because the traditional concept of marriage between one man and one woman is discriminatory, citizens should not have an opportunity to vote on the matter.

Professor Fired for Teaching Catholic Position on Homosexuality

Massachusetts Judge Declares DOMA Unconstitutional

by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Journalist A federal district court judge in Boston ruled yesterday that the 1996 Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman is unconstitutional because it violates the rights of same-sex couples and interferes with state's rights to set their own marriage law.

Hawaii Governor Vetoes Civil Unions Bill

by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Journalist The governor of Hawaii has vetoed a civil unions bill that would have granted same-sex couples the same rights as heterosexual couples because she believes the issue is of "such societal importance that it deserves to be decided directly by all the people of Hawaii."

Grad Student Threatened With Expulsion Because of Christian Beliefs
