Yes. Avalon is a neopagan movement that is rooted in New Age goddess worship and magic.
For those who never heard of it, the term “Avalon” commonly refers to a mythical island where King Arthur was believed to have gone after his final battle to be healed and restored. For this reason, the term also refers to a mystical realm of healing or rebirth where wounded warriors can be restored. Belief in this mystical realm is why subscribers attach a deep spiritual meaning to Avalon which is associated with spiritual transformation.
As this author explains, Avalon is seen as a realm where thin boundaries between the physical and spiritual worlds exist, and where the sacred and the divine converge, thus “allowing for a deeper connection with higher powers and spiritual energies.”
Avalon is also believed to be connected with ancient wisdom and intuitive knowledge.
“It is a source of mystical teachings, spiritual guidance, and insight,” this author states. “Avalon represents a place where individuals can tap into their intuition, receive spiritual guidance, and deepen their understanding of themselves and the world around them.”
Even though practitioners, and their rituals are diverse and eclectic, Avalon is essentially a combination of British, Celtic, and Irish folklore and legends, interwoven with druidism and a heavy dose of goddess worship.
For example, as this priestess of Avalon explains, “We worship and work with Goddesses of the land of Avalon – that is, Britain – and goddesses associated with the Avalonian myths. So we work with British, Welsh, Celtic and Irish goddesses mainly. Our Goddess is seen as a Quadruple Goddess – Maiden, Lover, Mother and Crone – and as an Elemental Goddess – Earth, Fire, Water and Air.”
Another priestess, named Holly Raphaela Morgana, explains that a “Priestess of Avalon is a vessel of Eternity...a servant of the Goddess, of Truth, of Beauty, of Wisdom, and a conduit of Love. She is a woman awake in her femininity and the power of the Goddess in her bod temple. She is a spiritual activist doing the work of the Divine in the world. A seeker, a mystic, a poetess, a dancer, a lover, a warrior, a mother, a sorceress, a crone, the Priestess allows all of the ways of the Lady to live in her.”
In conclusion, Avalon is an updated version of ancient pagan beliefs that are steeped in the worship of false gods.
