The Synod of Bishops on the Family closed yesterday after delegates reached a two-thirds majority vote on a final document that affirms Church teaching on all aspects of the family, including the denial of communion for the divorced and remarried and opposition to same-sex marriage.
Regardless of the outcome of today’s vote in the U.S. House to defund Planned Parenthood, the already bloodied abortion giant suffered more setbacks this week, including the loss of funding from yet another state, the raiding of its clinics by state officials in another, and the embarrassment of being mocked by one of its own supporters for its role in trafficking fetal body parts.
Interventions voiced by auditors of the Synod on the Family - delegates who participate in discussions but do not vote - gave a powerful glimpse into the families of the world – their hopes, their dreams, their failings and their triumphs.
