One of the nation’s leading media watchdog groups is calling for heads to roll at MTV after the station aired a sexually explicit performance by former Disney star, Miley Cyrus, while falsely rating the program as appropriate for children as young as 14.
In yet another example of the poor quality of Planned Parenthood’s educational materials for teens, a video on their Facebook page praises young women who are sexually promiscuous.
Thanks to pressure by the New Media, MTV decided to scrap its plans for a reality TV show that would have followed young adults in a quest to lose their virginity.
Because the latest technology is making it more and more difficult for parents to monitor what media their children are consuming, parents need to not only beware of the kind of shows that are being marketed to kids these days, but must be able to teach their children how to “filter” out the right from the wrong in what they’re watching.
