Female Employment Rate Lowest in 24 Years

For an administration that likes to call itself "pro woman" it sure hasn't done much to bring job security to working women, whose participation in the nation's labor force dropped last month to its lowest rate in 24 years.

CNSNews.com is reporting that the latest statistics from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) found that the number of women actually holding jobs declined by 154,000 from August to September.

"As calculated by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, a person participates in the labor force if they are 16 or older, not institutionalized, and either have a job or have actively sought a job in the last four weeks," CNS reports.

In September, the labor force participation rate for women dropped to 57.1 percent, down from 57.3 percent in August and 57.4 percent in July. This past March, the participation rate for women also dropped to 57.1, but this was the lowest rate for women since February 1989.

"While President Obama and the left continue the meme that pro-life Americans are waging a 'war on women' because they support abortion restrictions, the real 'war on women' is surging at kitchen tables throughout the nation, courtesy of the Obama administration’s policies," writes Dr. Susan Berry for Breitbart.

However, women need to beware of what kind of "spin" they may hear from the media on these numbers because the unemployment rate for women actually ticked down from 6.8 percent in August to 6.7 percent in September. The reason for this is because the decline in the number of women in the labor force was greater than the decline of women actually holding jobs.
