We are half-blind

October 1 Feast of St. Thérèse of Lisieux

"Only God can see what is at the bottom of our hearts; we are half-blind."

-St. Thérèse of Lisieux

Today's Reflection:

How often do we think we know ourselves, but when put to the test, are shocked by our own behavior? Thérèse was well aware of this short-sightedness and warns us to remember that when it comes to the human heart, even our own, we are “half blind!” Have I ever responded to someone or some situation in a way that surprised me? What does this say about how well I know my own heart?

St. Thérèse, help me to give my whole heart to Jesus so that He might cleanse it of its many impurities and make it “like unto thine.”
