Join the Worldwide Rosary Campaign for Peace

In addition to our own worldwide Rosary campaign here at Women of Grace, at least one million Catholics in Poland have pledged to take up their rosaries on October 7, the 446th anniversary of the victory of the Christian fleet over an armada of Muslim Ottomans, with the hopes of saving their country from the invasion of non-Christian values.

The Catholic Herald is reporting on the Polish campaign which is calling upon the faithful to join a mass Rosary campaign along the country’s border to mark the end of the Fatima centenary and to pray for the salvation of their country.

Called “Rosary on the Borders,” organizers say up to a million people are expected to turn out for the event. The day will also mark the Feast of Our Lady of the Rosary and the anniversary of the famous Battle of Lepanto when a fledgling Christian fleet saved Europe from Islamisation by defeating a vastly superior Ottoman armada. The seemingly impossible feat has gone down in history as being the result of a vast prayer campaign organized by Pope Pius V who encouraged the faithful throughout Europe to pray the Rosary in anticipation of the Battle. When the battle was won, he declared October 7 to be a feast day.

“We believe that if the rosary is prayed by about a million Poles along the borders of the country, it may not only change the course of events, but open hearts of our compatriots to the grace of God,” the organizers say their website. The “powerful prayer of the Rosary can affect the fate of Poland, Europe, and even the whole world.” on

The Polish bishops’ conference has endorsed the event and is asking Catholics to pray the Rosary even if they can’t physically make it to the border to pray.

“Families may pray in their homes, sick in hospitals, and parish communities in their churches,” they said.

“A hundred years ago, Mary gave these three Portuguese children a message of salvation: repent, give reparation for sins against my Immaculate Heart and pray the rosary,” the bishops added.

Rosary on the Borders is a “special opportunity” to fulfill that calling.

As Johnnette Benkovic and Thomas K. Sullivan write in their book, The Rosary: Your Weapon for Spiritual Warfare, St. John Paul II personally experienced the efficacy of the Rosary and saw it as “a prayer of great significance, destined to bring forth a harvest of holiness.”

As they write, “He also saw it as a means to peace in the wake of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 and as a way to quell the menacing ‘forces of disintegration on both the ideological and practical planes’ that threaten the institution of the family.”

Women of Grace is happy to join the Poles in this sacred endeavor and is calling upon prayer warriors everywhere to take up their Rosaries on October 7 and join our brothers and sisters in Poland in this historic event.

Let us all pray together – clergy, consecrated persons, lay faithful, adults, youth, children – and bring about a new miracle of grace for this our time!
