New Ads to Expose Radical Backgrounds of Judicial Nominees

by Susan Brinkmann, OCDS Staff Writer The Judicial Confirmation Network is launching a series of national ads exposing the radical records of President Obama’s potential nominees to the Supreme Court to the American public. “With the bully pulpit of the presidency, Congress, and the media under the control of liberals, the American people are getting a giant deception about the liberal judicial activist philosophy of nominees floated as frontrunners,” said Wendy Long, Judicial Confirmation Network (JCN) spokeswoman to LifeNews.com. "They are not moderates or centrists; they are hard-left activists who would decide cases based on their feelings and their personal political agendas," she said. One ad focuses on Judge Diane Wood of the federal 7th Circuit Court of Appeals who ruled against bans on partial birth abortion cases and ruled in favor of abortion advocates by allowing them to misuse RICO laws to sue pro-life protestors. "Wood ruled that peaceful abortion demonstrators should be punished under the same law that applies to mob bosses," the JCN ad says. "The 1st Amendment allows Nazis to march in Skokie, Illinois [Wood ruled]. But, apparently in Diane Wood’s court, opponents of abortion or students who share religious faith get less protection for their expression." "When Wood’s decision to discriminate against peaceful demonstrators came before the very court President Obama might appoint her to, the Supreme Court unanimously rejected Wood’s position," the ad continues. "America deserves better." Another JCN ad highlights the dismal record of Sonia Sotomayor, a Hispanic judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit who is considered to be a front-runner for the job. "Judging by her 100% reversal rate as a court of appeals judge, the chances don't look good for this potential Obama nominee," the ad explains. Elena Kagan, the pro-abortion lawyer whom the Senate confirmed to become Obama's Solicitor General is the focus of yet another ad. Kagan has been described by pro-life groups as "a strong supporter of the pro-abortion agenda" who "has vigorously opposed the de-funding of taxpayer-funded clinics which promote abortions." While national polls are showing a majority of Americans to be pro-life on abortion, the JCN ads expose how these potential Obama high court picks are markedly out of the mainstream.
