"It is only that which is eternal that is capable of satisfying our heart."
-St. Thérèse of Lisieux
Today's Reflection:
Thérèse went from living in a comfortable home to the austerities of a Carmelite cloister, a transition that taught her the value of the spiritual over the material. She gladly gave up the luxuries of life for the more profound spiritual satisfaction of living out her vocation. Where do I find satisfaction in life? When is my heart the most peaceful? Why?
St. Thérèse, even though I know that only God can satisfy my heart, I still find myself looking for satisfaction in the fleeting things of this life. Please pray for me that I might develop a supernatural vision that enables me to not only see, but to value, the riches of eternity over anything I might acquire here on earth.
