Thousands of people were displaced from their native countries and lived years as refugees in foreign lands never reconnecting with family members again, thousands more lost loved ones to the gas chambers of the concentration camps,thousands more endured unspeakable tortures and indignities at the hands of the SS or the Storm Troopers or the Nazi doctors and researchers, and every generation of Jew since has been scorched by the sorrowful memory of its ancestral trauma.
