14438 - Honor: What It Is and Why We Need It Part 1
10/21/2008
(Program 14438) Guests: James Bowman
The historical record shows us that the story of honor has always been intertwined with the story of mankind. However, how honor is understood, what guides and informs it and the manner and mores in which it is lived out are as varied as the cultures of the world are different from one another. What is honor? Is there a singular definition that applies to all cultures in all places at all times? Can peoples, nations, and world powers co-exist in peace and tranquility if their understandings of honor are diverse and in tension? Our guest, James Bowman is currently a resident scholar at the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington, D.C.
