Declared a Doctor of the Church in 1997 by Pope John Paul the Second, St. Therese of Lisieux, is the youngest person to receive this distinction. She died at only twenty-four years of age, yet her life, witness, and little way of spiritual childhood has made her an enduring favorite in the hearts and minds of Catholics through these subsequent generations.
