You remember the incident in Sacred Scripture where Jesus visits the home of Martha and Mary? Martha is busy in the kitchen and complains to Jesus that her sister, Mary, isn’t helping her. Clearly, Martha’s intention is to have Jesus do something about it. Maybe prod Mary into action. But, Jesus’ response to Martha is a big surprise – and a lesson for her, and you and me as well. Jesus tells her, “Martha, Martha, you worry and fret about so many things, and yet few are needed, indeed only one. It is Mary who has chosen the better part.” Spending time with Jesus, getting to know Him, being led by Him, and imitating Him is the backbone of growth in holiness and union with Christ. As our guest shared with us yesterday, the best way for this to happen is through Sacred Scripture.
