I remember speaking with a religious sister one day after morning mass and asked her if she knew what date a particular secular holiday was going to fall on that year.

She looked at me with a face that clearly reflected a sudden revelation. “Well, I really don’t know,” she replied. “My whole life is set by the liturgical calendar.”

That set me to wondering. To what extent did the Church’s calendar affect my life? Was I more driven by the secular year or the spiritual year?

Our guest wondered the same thing, and wrote a book to tell about it. For him, the answer to the question led to transformation and new life.
