By its very nature, love is other-centered. As Pope Benedict the Sixteenth tells us in his encyclical, Caritas in Veritate, “To love someone is to desire that person’s good and to take effective steps to secure it.”

How, then, do we extend the love of God to others? What are the principles that guide our loving action? And what are the counterfeits of love especially with regard to social action?
