In his letter to the Colossians, St. Paul instructs this early church to let the word of Christ dwell in them richly as they teach and admonish one another in all wisdom, and as they sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with thankfulness in their hearts to God.
What were these psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs? From whence had they come? Why was Paul so certain they were of value to this congregation of new believers – and could those songs, hymns, and spiritual songs have been a transforming reality in their lives?
