WGR11912 - Our Lady of Guadalupe: Mother for Uncertain Times, Part 1

(Program WGR11912)
Guests: Fr. Sebastian White, OP

From 1926 to 1929, the Mexican government waged a horrific, bloody war of persecution against the Catholic faith. Called the Cristeros War, it met its end through what appeared to be a peace agreement between the government and Catholic Church leaders. But the despicable persecution reared its head again in 1934 and lasted until 1938. Shortly before this second persecution, Monsignor Luis Maria Martinez y Rodriguez was appointed Archbishop of Mexico. Clearly his appointment was a move of the Holy Spirit. Today, Father Sebastian White will share how his homilies on Our Lady of Guadalupe encouraged the people of that time and what significance his they may hold for us today.
