Divorce is ugly, a messy affair, and one with deep and lasting consequences – especially for the children involved. And yet, children are rarely, if ever, asked how they feel about their parents’ divorce.

They may be asked when their parents divorced, what caused the divorce, how old they were when the parents divorced, but almost never are they asked how the divorce affected them and still affects them.

Theirs is a silent grief with no place to mourn. But the loss is palpable and plays out in a variety of ways. Today we will explore the effect of divorce on the child’s perception of love, marriage, and family life.
