Host: Johnnette Benkovic

Barbara calls in to the show following an ambulance. Her husband is a faithful Catholic man and he just took a bad fall. The first person Barbara felt she had to call was Johnnette Benkovic. Johnnette takes Barbara by the hand, helps her calm down so she can drive safely after her husband in the ambulance and plunges deep into a very heart-felt prayer for his safety and for peace—for both Barbara and her husband. Johnnette and Barbara stay together in prayer until Barbara pulls into the hospital parking lot to go meet her husband in the emergency room.

Johnnette takes other calls. Bridget calls in to ask why the Pope used the name ‘lucifer’ in latin during liturgy in the Vatican. Johnnette checks the veracity of the claim and clarifies. The mention is in the Exultet—the Easter proclamation sung in Latin during the Easter Vigil and the root word ‘lucifer’ refers to light, not the devil. Following up, callers Vicky and Dan chime in to share what they have researched. This is why it’s handy to keep our call-in numbers handy… 1-800-585-9396 and for international listeners… (205) 271-2985 because at Women of Grace you are empowered with knowledge to clarify confusion out there. At the beginning of the show, Johnnette’s reflection motivates an Independence Day Novena of Masses honoring our Service Men and Women. Johnnette’s son Simon fought for freedom in Iraq and served his country diligently.

Six months after coming back from Iraq to the U.S., he tragically died in a vehicular accident. At that time, only 25 years old, he had served his country, protected our lives and liberties. Details about the novena are at www.womenofgrace.com It’s the second banner up at the top of the page. You can join the novena. It’s all here on Women of Grace from EWTN Radio.
