The Consecration of the Diocese of St. Petersburg to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

“..As the first disciple and most perfect and faithful disciple of her son, she (Mary) is with Him and with God the Father in Heaven. She is where we hope and long to be one day and in her maternal care and concern, desires to help us through her intercession to achieve this end for which we were created……”


These are the words of Bishop Gregory Parkes on today’s Women of Grace. He is the bishop of host Johnnette Benokvic and the diocese of St. Petersburg Florida. This past weekend Bishop Parkes consecrated the diocese of St. Petersburg to the Immaculate Heart of Mary to a standing room only crowd. He explained the relationship he and many priests have with Our Blessed Mother. He explains that Mary points the way for Jesus help in leadership. We must draw closer to her Son. Johnnette agrees that Mary ‘mothers’ us to Jesus.

Caller Emily asked how do we live the consecrated life. Bishop Parkes explains that we must pray the Rosary everyday. Any Marian devotions or prayers help and make sure you share with the children. Bishop Parkes share a story of an altar server who had not heard of the devotion to Mary and asked to Bishop to pray for him to become closer to Our Lady.
