It’s both Ash Wednesday and Valentine’s Day. On WOMEN OF GRACE host Johnnette Benkovic ask what was God thinking or saying to us by giving us this combined day? Johnnette explains that the fast we do on this day was first started in the early church and we are united in this custom. Paullette called and said her priest told her that this combine day was no accident. Valentines is a combination of two words. Val means ‘to go’ and we know what Lent is. So it means “ Go to Lent.” Marlea has a story about her young son. He has a Valentine party today at school and yet he gave up candy for Lent. She told him that it was OK for him to have candy today but he told her if Jesus could give up so much for 40 days in the desert he can give up candy for one day. Toni on Facebook left the church and feels lost in the Protestant churches she goes to. Johnnette tells her it is because she is not home.
