Abortion Now 4th Leading Cause of Death in US

Record high abortion numbers which were revealed in Planned Parenthood’s recently released annual report has put abortion into the top four leading causes of death in the US after heart disease, cancer, and COVID-19.

According to Susan B. Anthony Pro Life America, Planned Parenthood ended the lives of nearly 393,000 Americans during the year 2022-2023. Meanwhile, the nation’s largest abortion provider saw 80,000 fewer patients, provided 60,000 few pap tests and breast exams, and distributed less contraceptives. At the same time, the federal government gave them almost $700 million taxpayer dollars – which equates to a third of the company’s revenue. They ended the year with a whopping $2.5 billion in net assets.

“Planned Parenthood dropped this bombshell report while many Americans are still recovering from tax day,” said SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Any family that hasn’t been living under a rock has noticed that basic necessities get more expensive by the day. We know that 60% of women who’ve had abortions would rather have kept their babies if they just had more emotional or financial support. Democrats’ response? They demonize and strip funding from pregnancy resource centers that serve women and their children. Bidenomics has turned into abortionomics. Just like their hero Margaret Sanger, their ‘solution’ to the struggle of families to keep their heads above water is to kill their children and let the abortion industry rake in record profits.”

Michael New, Ph.D., a social scientist and senior associate scholar at Charlotte Lozier Institute, said that Planned Parenthood’s annual reports “consistently provide solid evidence that Planned Parenthood continues to prioritize abortion”.

“Overall, this new report shows that Planned Parenthood performed 392,715 abortions in 2022. This is a record number of abortions for the organization and represents approximately 40 percent of the abortions performed in the United States. The report also indicates that Planned Parenthood continues to cut back on several health services. Between 2022 and 2023, preventive-care visits fell by 31.0 percent, pap tests fell by 13.5 percent, cancer screenings fell by 1.4 percent, and adoption referrals fell by 4.5 percent. Interestingly, for every adoption referral in 2023, Planned Parenthood performed over 228 abortions.

He added: “All of this is consistent with Planned Parenthood’s long-term trend of performing more abortions and providing fewer health services. In fact, in the past ten years, the number of abortions performed by Planned Parenthood has increased by 20 percent. Meanwhile, cancer screenings fell by more than 58 percent, and prenatal services declined by more than 67 percent.”

Even though Planned Parenthood cut back on several health care services in 2022, it continues to receive increases in government funding, New added.

This is in spite of the fact that multiple post-Dobbs polls have shown that at least seven in 10 Americans support significant limits on abortion.

For example, a recent NPR poll found that 80 percent of Americans oppose abortion-on-demand throughout nine months of pregnancy and 67 percent want to see it restricted to the first three months of pregnancy. These numbers include majorities among young people such as Gen Z/Millennials (60%), college graduates (56%), and non-white Americans (65%).

For this reason, Dannenfelser is promising that “Our team will work tirelessly to expose the Democrats’ extremism and defeat them in November.”

Let us keep their efforts in our prayers!
