Pope Addresses UN Summit on Climate Change

In a televised address to participants in the UN summit on climate change, which was held in New York City on Sept. 22, Pope Benedict XVI said that because the natural environment is given by God to everyone, “our use of it entails a personal responsibility towards humanity as a whole, particularly towards the poor and towards future generations.”

Vatican Denies Reports of Forthcoming Liturgical Changes

Responding to reports promulgated by some news organizations, the Press Office of the Holy See told the Italian press yesterday that Pope Benedict XVI is not planning to make changes to enhance the sacredness of the liturgy at this time.

Vatican Launches “Assessment” of Dissident Women Religious Conference

The Vatican has launched another investigation of American nuns, this time focusing on the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR), an organization known for its promotion of the ordination of women and homosexuality, and for its dissent regarding the unique role of Christ in salvation.
