A national petition campaign has been launched by the Catholic faithful who have grown weary with Sister Carol Keehan of the Catholic Health Association (CHA) who has once again defied Church authority by siding with the Obama Administration and accepting the final version of the controversial birth control mandate.
Sister Carol Keehan, the infamous head of the Catholic Health Association who came out in support of the president’s HHS mandate “accommodation” has apparently read the fine print and realized Catholic hospitals gained nothing in the “compromise” and is now expressing her “profound disappointment” with it.

The President of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) criticized the actions of Sr. Carol Keehan of the Catholic Health Association (CHA) and other “so-called Catholic groups” for causing “confusion” and a “wound to Catholic unity” by publicly supporting ObamaCare in spite of the bishop’s open opposition to the bill.

A leading Catholic voice says Congress has little to fear by the bishops’ opposition to abortion coverage in the health care bill because most of the Catholics in Congress support the bills and several mainstream Catholic organizations such as Catholic Charities USA, the Catholic Health Association and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, have voiced their support.

President Barack Obama has nominated Dr. Regina Benjamin, a rural Alabama doctor and a Catholic who received the Pro Ecclessia et Pontifice medal from Pope Benedict XVI in 2006, as the nation’s next Surgeon General.
