FBI Shamed Into Offering Reward for Info on Pregnancy Center Attacks

A move that is being called “a day late and a dollar short,” the FBI has announced that it is offering a $25K reward for information related to a series of attacks on pro-life pregnancy centers that will lead to the identification, arrest, and conviction of the suspect(s) responsible for the crimes.

According to a January 19 press release, the FBI is seeking the public’s help identifying the individual(s) responsible for a series of attacks and threats targeting reproductive health service facilities across the country. The agency plans to investigate these attacks as potential acts of domestic violent extremism, Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act (FACE Act) violations, or violent crime matters, depending on the facts of each case.

“Today’s announcement reflects the FBI’s commitment to vigorously pursue investigations into crimes against pregnancy resource centers, faith-based organizations, and reproductive health clinics across the country,” said FBI Director Christopher Wray. “We will continue to work closely with our national, state, and local law enforcement partners to hold responsible anyone who uses extremist views to justify their criminal actions.”

The announcement comes after months of accusations about the politicization of the FBI and the abdication of their duty to investigate the 186 attacks on prolife centers and supporters since the leak of the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade in June of 2022.

After months of doing nothing about these attacks, CompassCare, a group of pregnancy care centers serving upstate New York, joined forces with the Thomas More Society and announced that they were hiring private investigators to look into these crimes.

“We both have a vested interest in the inquiry,” stated Tom Brejcha, Thomas More Society Founder, President and Chief Counsel. “CompassCare’s Buffalo, New York, office was firebombed in June 2022, during a wave of violence perpetrated by pro-abortion groups, who wore masks and used assumed names such as ‘Jane’s Revenge.’ But these perpetrators, now on the FBI’s most wanted list, have not been identified or apprehended, not one of them.”

Brejcha speaks from experience, not as a lawyer, but as a victim of one of these crimes.

“My own suburban Chicago residence was vandalized by a pro-abortion mob of around 50 masked thugs on July 1, 2022,” he said. “They brandished menacing signs and spray-painted obscenities (using F-words) and anti-life threats, such as ‘If abortions aren’t safe, you aren’t either,’ on our driveway and sidewalk. They handed out flyers claiming that Thomas More Society and I defended anti-abortion ‘extremists’ (i.e., those who believe that each human life is sacred) and helped overturn Roe v. Wade. They ignited flaring clusters of smoke bombs, uprooted my wife’s rosebush, and hurled paint bombs against our home, leaving indelible green stains.”

The CEO of CompassCare, Rev. Jim Harden, has been insisting for months that if the agency was serious about curbing the violence, they would offer $25,000 rewards for attacks on the over 100 pro-life organizations. For this reason, he remains suspicious of the FBI’s latest move.

“Doesn’t reward money seven months removed from the crime tell the world the trail has gone cold?” he asks. Calling the move “a day late and a dollar short – or rather, 226 days late and $1.7 million short,” he believes that after seven months of no results, no manhunt, and a serious private investigation into the attacks now underway by the Thomas More Society and CompassCare, the FBI increased their reward so as not to be humiliated.

“Given the recent aggression of pro-abortion politicians, I believe that an arrest of a pro-abortion terrorist will likely link to pro-abortion politicians and more,” Rev. Harden continued. “If our investigation uncovers the FBI’s participation in violence against pro-life groups will they still give us the reward money? Anyway, it makes me happy to know that our investigative efforts, once successful, may be completely underwritten by the FBI.”

He remains hopeful that “the FBI may be realizing what pro-life people have been saying for decades: pro-abortion ideology is extreme and almost always leads to violence. If people are willing to end the life of a preborn boy or girl, threatening and attacking people who wish to protect those little ones is of little concern to them. Jane’s Revenge motto says it all, ‘If abortion isn’t safe then neither are you.’”
