Students Challenge Planned Parenthood Prez to See UNPLANNED Movie

Students for Life of America has extended a challenge to Planned Parenthood president Dr. Leana Wen to see the upcoming movie, Unplanned, in exchange for a $5,000 donation to Wen’s alma mater.

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America (SFLA), the nation’s largest pro-life youth organization, sent a personal invitation to Dr. Wen to accompany her to the movie, Unplanned, which documents the experience of former Planned Parenthood clinic director, Abby Johnson.

“There are two sides to every story, Leana, and I’d like to invite you to learn more about the experience of others working in Planned Parenthood who saw the humanity in preborn life,” Hawkins wrote.

“Millions of women and former Planned Parenthood employees have experienced tragedy while exposed to the nation’s number one abortion vendor. Will you join the Pro-Life Generation for one night to understand what we’ve witnessed?” SFLA’s Kristan Hawkins continued. “If you do, I’ll make a $5,000 contribution to your alma mater, Washington University School of Medicine.”

Hawkins went on to say that her friend, Abby Johnson, represents a generation of women who found Planned Parenthood to be a business focused on profits that ignored the people most impacted by abortion, the preborn.

“Leana, I challenge you to join me in a theatre near you for a look at the abortion industry from the perspective of someone who knows it as you do.”

The film, which debuts on March 29 in more than 1,000 theaters across the U.S., documents Johnson’s journey from one of the youngest Planned Parenthood clinic directors in the country, who was involved in up to 22,000 abortions, to pro-life activist.

As part of SFLA educational efforts on the reality of abortion, the team has worked to promote the groundbreaking movie. The group is currently hosting screenings of the movie, Gosnell: The Story of American’s Biggest Serial Killer, which will be seen on more than 90 campuses nationwide.

In addition to challenging Dr. Wen, they are also offering challenges to students across the nation to attend and/or host showings of Unplanned.

Prolife organizations around the country are planning on packing theaters across the country on the opening weekend of the film which will insure that this compelling film will remain in theaters for weeks to come. Click here to find a theater near you!
