Feb. 23 Is National Day of Mourning for New Abortion Laws

Millions of Americans who are horrified by the passage of radical abortion laws allowing late-term abortions and even infanticide will have a chance to turn their outrage into action on Saturday, February 23, which has been declared a national “Day of Mourning.”

According to CBN, this grass roots movement will feature a huge rally in Albany, New York, the city where one of the most extreme abortion laws in the country was signed into law on January 22.

The event will feature speakers such as Elizabeth Johnston, also known as the “the Activist Mommy,” real estate entrepreneurs David and Jason Benham who were blacklisted after declaring their support for traditional marriage, and author David J. Harris, a leader in the black conservative movement.

“We’re holding a huge flagship rally that’s already sold out, in Albany, New York, right in the epicenter of where Governor Cuomo signed and celebrated that outrageous, infanticide law,” Johnston told CBN.

“We’re gonna be right there, in the convention center underneath the state house where they signed that law. And we are owning this sin. Even as God’s people, if you’ve never committed an abortion, there’s a sense in which we have been completely complicit, completely silent, we have not been the Good Samaritan that we must be, and so we have to own this as God’s people for allowing this bloodshed for 46 years. And we’re gonna get on our faces before God, thousands of people, and repent for the sin of abortion.”

Similar events are also scheduled in cities like Dallas, Texas; Nashville, TN; Charlotte, NC; Chicago, IL; and in more than 20 other locations.

According to the website, some suggestions for how you can share in the day of mourning include:

Wear black
Don’t Shop
Close Businesses
Repent for Abortion

“The state of New York has crossed a line of inhumanity that should drive us to our knees,” the website states. “Forty-six years of the state-sanctioned killing of our most helpless and defenseless children should cause us to weep, to mourn, and to take action. What is to be thought of a society that kills her own children? What will the future be of such a heartless society that celebrates such barbaric inhumanity?”

There is only one way to repair for this grave sin – repent!

“We are in desperate need for God to move upon the hearts of young and old in our nation. If our hearts do not break over the killing of these little image bearers of God in the womb, then how can we expect those growing up in this lost, confused and decadent culture to take our message seriously? Join us February 23rd for a ‘Day of Mourning’.”
