Wandering into Myths

August 8

“For the time is coming when people will not endure sound teaching, but having itching ears they will accumulate for themslves teachers to suit their own liking, and will turn away from listening to the truth and wander into myths.”
-2 Timothy 4:3-4
Today’s Reflection:
Many aspects of the age in which we live–the explosion of the electronic media to convey images and ideas in lightning speed; the proliferation of non-Christian (and often anti-Christian) concepts and philosophies in every aspect of popular culture; the saturation of secularist ideologies in curricula form kindergarten through graduate studies; the onslaught of pagan practices encroaching on business seminars, medical institutions, children’s games, prime-time television, so-called Catholic retreat houses, and the very real message of a moral code devoid of God–point to the absolute need to separate truth from fiction.  We need to evaluate what is presented to us from the vantage point of our Catholic Faith.
Are you currently influenced negatively by things in your life that are contrary to our Faith? What are those things?
