Students Respect Life with Day of Silence

Thousands of students across the U.S. are remaining silent today as a sign of solidarity with 50 million of their brothers and sisters who have been silenced by abortion.

LifeSiteNews.com is reporting that 3,773 schools have registered to participate in the event today, which is sponsored by the Pro-Life Day of Silent Solidarity, a project of Stand True – Christ Centered Pro Life.  In addition to remaining silent throughout the day, students will also wear red armbands and/or red duct tape across their mouths and distribute educational flyers to anyone who asks why they are remaining silent.

“By refusing to speak the students create a huge buzz and abortion will be the most talked about subject on campus,” said Bryan Kemper, President of Stand True Ministries to LifeSite. “This generation is fed up with the senseless violence of abortion and is determined to bring an end to the abortion holocaust.”

Students are instructed to let their school administrators know that they are participating in the event, which they have a legal right to do. Should any teacher or administrator forbid their participation, attorneys at the Alliance Defense Fund, a legal alliance dedicated to preserving religious freedom, are standing by to assist them.

Home schooled students are also participating in the event by wearing red arm bands and visiting malls throughout the country where they will distribute pro-life literature.

Stand True reports that 16 high school girls cancelled abortion appointments and decided to keep their babies during last year’s event when participating students broke their silence to speak about abortion.  “Use your best judgment and speak if you need to,” the ministry counsels. “Some people may be just trying to harass you, while others may seriously need to talk to someone.”

Students are also asked to be respectful of teachers and to speak if necessary during class time to avoid damaging their grades.
