During the fiscal year 2008-2009, donations to Planned Parenthood by the Susan G. Komen Foundation declined by 10 percent.

LifeNews.com is reporting that new research by pro-life activist Jill Stanek into Komen’s annual report found a slight dip in the amount of money it donates to Planned Parenthood, from $805,000 in 2008 to $731,000 in 2009.

“The Susan G. Komen Foundation decreased its giving to Planned Parenthood by 10 precent from 2008 to 2009. That’s not much, but it may be an indication their bond is weakening,” Stanek told LifeNews.

Overall, Komen took in almost $22 million less in 2009 than it made in 2008, which could be the result of the lingering recession or pro-life activities aimed at boycotting Komen until it cuts its ties with the abortion giant.

Komen has insisted on partnering with Planned Parenthood because it provides important breast health services to women; however, the strong link between abortion and breast cancer risk has cast serious doubt on the wisdom of this association.

The latest research on the abortion/breast cancer link was presented in January 2010 by the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle. Their study found a 20 to 50 percent increased risk of breast cancer in women who had abortions compared to those who carried their pregnancies to term.
