“But who am I that the mother of my Lord shouldMaryvisitation6 come to me? The moment your greeting sounded in my ears, the baby leapt in my womb for joy.”

                                         ~Luke 1: 43-44

For Reflection:

Mary carried Jesus in her womb to Zechariah’s house and St. John the Baptist leapt in his mother’s womb for joy. Who will carry Jesus to me today and how will I respond to His presence?

The Problem of Pornography

In the Theology of the Body, Pope John Paul II wrote that the opposite of love is not hate; it is “use.” In both definitions we can see how pornography leads people to “use” others. When a man views pornography, he is not thinking that the woman he is looking at is someone’s daughter, or about the terrible circumstances that may have led her into a career in pornography. He is only thinking of his own pleasure. Thus, instead of loving her, he is simply using her (West 2004). There is an extreme narcissism in this. In addition, he is not thinking of how addictive pornography can be to men and that he could become enslaved to it.
