Introduction

…God somehow managed to get my attention, although it’s still a wonder to me how he did it. If I hadn’t written all this down more than twenty years ago, I may never have remembered the way He snuck upon me, so naturally, so softly, so I-can’t-believe-this-is-happening-to-me incredibly. It all happened right smack in the middle of my world, in between firing off letters to publishers, working a sales district from Baltimore to Portland, and dating seemingly every commito-phobe on the planet.
