Introduction

This is who I am,” I would tell any man who took and interest in me, “so either accept me for who I am or go elsewhere.” Not that I was a bad person or even half as selfish as I might sound.  I sincerely wanted to marry again and raise a family, but deep down inside I was angry and hurting, as any woman would be after being dumped by the love of her life and left near penniless after working him through college and law school. While he moved up the legal ladder, I moved down to a basement apartment and shopped for groceries at the dollar store.
