Though sin is a personal act, it reaps a corporate effect. And the corporate effect reaps an evil of greater or lesser degree. Like our mother Eve, every human being is tempted to distrust God, to prideful reliance on self, and to inordinate desire for the things of the world. To the extent that we give in to temptation and sin, it is to that extent we cooperate in the evil one’s plans to bring damnation to man.
