A suicide note written by one of the bombers involved in yesterday’s terrorist deadly attack in Brussels described how he was desperate to kill himself because he didn’t want to end up in a prison cell.

The Daily Mail is reporting on the note left by Ibrahim El Bakraoui, one of several terrorists involved in killing 14 people inside the Brussels airport yesterday. Investigators say El Bakraoui, who set off his suicide vest, left the note in the bin at a terrorist “safehouse” in Schaerbeek next to a cache of homemade explosives, weapons and an ISIS flag.

“I don’t know what to do,” the note said. “I’m in a hurry. I’m on the run. People are looking for me everywhere. And if I give myself up then I’ll end up in a cell.”

El Bakraoui had been on the run since last week when he and his brother, Khalid, who was also killed in yesterday’s attack, managed to escape police during a raid on a terrorist hideout in a Brussels suburb. Both he and his brother were well-known to police because of their links to ISIS and had significant criminal records. The El Bakraoui brothers had served time in jail for gun smuggling, burglary and car crime.

El Bakraoui’s fear of going to jail is said to be in reference to his friend, Salah Abdeslam, one of the masterminds of the Paris terrorist attacks who was captured alive by police on March 18.

Police are still searching for the so called “Man in White”, the jihadi master bombmaker Najim Laachraoui, who is pictured on video footage wheeling a bag containing a bomb into the airport. He is seen walking alongside Ibrahim and another unidentified man who is believed to have blown himself up along with El Bakraoui.

The video shows Laachraoui leaving his bag in the airport, then departing the scene just before the carnage begins. Investigators later found the bag which contained the largest of all of the bombs used in the attack which, for some reason, failed to detonate.

Laachraoui is suspected of preparing the suicide vests worn by the El Bakraoui brothers.

Ibrahim’s brother, Khalid, is believed to have detonated two suicide vests at a nearby metro station which killed 20 people and injured dozens of others.

News is also breaking today about how the bombers behaved just before heading to the airport yesterday morning. Apparently, they had packed yet another bag full of explosives but it couldn’t fit into the cab. While struggling to load the bag, they refused to the driver touch it. This behavior appeared so suspicious that the driver later called police to alert them to the incident.

Meanwhile, the identities of the dead and missing are beginning to be revealed.

Adelma Tapia Ruiz, 36, the Peruvian mother of three year-old twin girls, was on her way to visit relatives in New York when she was killed in one of the airport explosions. Her husband and daughters survived only because they were in another part of the concourse when the bomb went off.

A 20 year-old law student from Brussels, Leopolt Hect, died of injuries sustained at the Maelbeek Metro Station.

Oliver Delespesse, who worked for a government organization for Belgian French-speakers. was on his way to work when he died in the metro bombing.

Many are still missing, such as David Dixon, 53, a British resident and IT programmer who was on his way to work at the time of Tuesday’s explosions in the metro. He has not been heard from since.

American siblings Sascha and Alexander Pinczowski were at the airport at the time of the attack. According to Dutch media reports, the two were on the phone to their family when the blasts occurred and the line went dead. Neither have been heard from since.

Another American, a 19 year-old Mormon missionary named Mason Wells made headlines after he reportedly survived not only yesterday’s attack, but also the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing and the November attacks in Paris. He suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in yesterday’s blast along with shrapnel injuries and burns to his hands and face.

The country of Belgium has declared three days of mourning with world leaders denouncing the violence and vowing renewed commitments to fighting radical Islam throughout the world.
