An Australian filmmaker has outraged Christians around the world for creatingn a poster of Our Lady with male genitalia on her forehead as a way to advertise his upcoming reality show about three people who auction off their virginity for money.

9News.com is reporting that filmmaker Justin Sisley began posting the placards throughout Sydney, Australia this week to attract fans to his auction. He claims he chose the Virgin Mary for the poster because to him, religion is fiction.

“For me believing in God is like believing in James Bond,” he told 9News. “It’s just like fiction and I hate fictional narratives … I don’t know any young people who believe in God. Anyone can make fiction but if you’re filming documentaries, you’re transforming people’s lives.”

The Archdiocese of Sydney doesn’t agree. “It takes a pretty sick mind to come up with something like that just to get publicity,” said spokeswoman Katrina Lee. “It’s concerning that people are prepared to go down that track … it’s a sad indictment of them.”

Authorities have already forced Sisley to move his auction out of the Australian state of Victoria or be charged with prostitution if he went ahead with the filming. The event will now take place in the Nevada brothel that is partnering with him in the project.

Unfortunately, the ad campaign is working. Sisley already has three contenders who are willing to auction off their bodies and allow him to document their first sexual experience.

One 21-year-old Sydney woman said she signed up for the auction for the money and to challenge traditional perceptions about sex.

“Technically I’m selling my virginity for money, technically that would be classified as prostitution, but it’s not going to be a regular thing, so in my head I can justify that I’m not going to be a prostitute,” she told the paper. “I don’t think I’ll regret it.”

Another candidate, a male identified only as Alex, said he applied as a way of meeting someone.
